Estado del arte de los enjuagues bucales: una revisión

Resumo

Objetivo: establecer el estado del arte de los enjuagues bucales, en relación al control químico del biofilm oral y efectos no deseados en la cavidad oral. Materiales y Métodos: se realizó una búsqueda electrónica en las siguientes bases de datos: Pubmed, Clinical key, Dentistry & Oral Science Source, Science direct y Scopus, utilizando las palabras clave: “dental plate, chemical control, dental plate and chemical control”. Se incluirán en la revisión los artículos que tienen los enjuagues bucales como enfoque principal hoy y aquellos que pueden destacarse en el futuro. Resultados: se consiguió un total de 260 documentos. Después de seleccionar el uso de los criterios de inclusión, se utilizaron para el análisis un total de 7 documentos de texto completo. Conclusión: el desarrollo y la aplicación clínica de los antisépticos orales requieren de investigación aplicada para resolver los problemas cotidianos de los pacientes. Los enjuagues que involucran un componente natural como principio activo han demostrado, según los estudios incluidos, un buen porcentaje de inactivación de la patogenia del biofilm oral, por lo que futuros estudios deberán reorientarse en estos, allanando el camino a productos naturales que reduzcan el porcentaje de efectos adversos en la cavidad bucal.
